Q: Is TOKEN a printed magazine?
A: No, TOKEN is an online magazine.
Q: Since it's online, how are you going to protect our work?
A: The magazine will be a digital flash-operated magazine so no one will be able to right-click and save any photos or written pieces. Print-screen will also render useless to art thieves; the magazine will be desgined and formatted in a way that will make it nearly impossible to extract anyone's work.
Q: Does reading or submitting to the magazine require us to pay a fee?
A: Nope. You don't have to pay a single penny. Everything is free.
Q: Why is the magazine called TOKEN?
A: I think of the magazine as a way of giving back to others for inspiring me as a varied artist. I want to give others the opportunity to expose their aspirations as artists and help inspire others as well. Think of it as a TOKEN of my gratitude. ;)
Q: How often will TOKEN publish new issues?
A: We used to aim for every other monthv but due to time restrictions, Token is now a quarterly magazine. This way it gives the staff as well as the art contributors more time to create something new and design and publish new issues.
Q: How can I become the next featured artist or cover artist?
A: We choose our featured artists by the thoughtfulness of their pieces or descriptions.
Q: Why are there a lot of photography features and not as many poetry, paintings, etc?
A: We try to provide everyone with an equal chance for publication. Sometimes we get more submission within one category over others. It's not something we have any control over but we do hope to receive more varied artwork in the future.
Q: Is there a certain theme that we have to base our submissions on?
A: Since we are just starting out, not as of right now. But hopefully if the magazine gets more people on board and many people insist on a theme, then it will be done. But for now, anything goes.
Q: How many submissions are we able to submit?
A: You may submit as many times as you like, but you can only submit once per issue.
Q: Who is the staff at Token?
A: Nhu Nguyen is the Editor in Chief, Alexander Micahel is the Executive Assistant, Bei Wang and Katherine Lowenbraun are the Copy Editors, and Ricky Kelley is the Networking and Marketing Manager.
Q: Why is the Token e-mail used with the nn-photography.com domain?
A: We find this to a be more efficeient and reliable way of preventing spam and ads.
Q: Who are you? What is your name and where are you from?
A: My name is Nhu Nguyen. I am 18 years old and was born in Vietnam but I am currently residing in Maryland in the US.
I am a versatile artist--a singer, photographer, illustrator, graphic artist, musician, video producer, and a writer. Art has always been a huge impact on my life and many people say that they are inspired by what I do. With Token Magazine, I feel like I am able to share the passion among others artists who deserve the recognition and show that those are the people that inspire me to keep doing what I love doing most.
